Suburban has been building RV appliances for decades, and their furnaces and water heaters are found across a broad range of travel trailers, fifth wheels, and motorhomes. When a Suburban appliance develops a fault, the problem is usually a single worn component rather than a failure of the whole unit, and having access to the right replacement part means most repairs can be handled without a full appliance replacement.

Our Suburban selection covers complete furnaces and water heaters as well as a comprehensive range of replacement parts, including blower motors, circuit boards, gas valves, sail switches, limit switches, igniter electrodes, thermostat switches, heating elements, anode rods, and access doors across the SF, NT, SW, and SAW series.

Check your appliance model number before ordering, as parts are often series-specific and vary between Suburban furnace and water heater generations.

Which Suburban RV water heater models do you carry parts for?

We stock replacement parts for the full Suburban water heater lineup, including the SW6D, SW6DE, SW6DEL, SW10DE, SW10DEL, SAW6D, and SAW10 series. The model number decodes as SW (Suburban Water heater), the digit (gallon capacity), D (DSI ignition), and E (electric element). Common replacement parts include thermostats, gas valves, control boards, thermal fuses, anode rods, heating elements, and door assemblies. If you are working with a 10 gallon unit, see our 10 gallon RV water heater collection for full units and accessories.

How do I find the right Suburban furnace part using the diagram?

Start with the model and serial number on the data plate inside the furnace access door. Suburban furnace diagrams (NT-series, SF-series, P-series) label each component by callout number, then cross-reference to a part number such as 161216-02 (limit switch) or 232282 (sail switch). Match the callout to the part number on your diagram before ordering. If you cannot locate the diagram or the data plate is unreadable, text or call 817-984-1852 with your RV make, model, and year and we will confirm fitment.

Are Suburban and Airxcel the same company?

Yes. Suburban Manufacturing Company, based in Dayton, Tennessee, is part of the Airxcel RV Group, which also owns Coleman-Mach, MaxxAir, and Aqua-Hot. Parts are still branded Suburban and use the same OEM part numbers you will find in your owner's manual, so a Suburban thermostat or gas valve sold under the Airxcel umbrella is the correct OEM replacement. For related Airxcel-family components, see our Coleman ceiling assembly for ducted installations.

Which Suburban thermostat fits my furnace or water heater?

Suburban furnaces use a 12V DC wall thermostat, most commonly a 2-wire heat-only or a multi-stage unit when paired with an air conditioner. Water heaters use a dedicated tank-mounted thermostat (often part numbers 232306, 232282, or 520789 depending on gas, electric, or combo operation). Confirm whether your unit is gas-only, electric-only, or DSI gas/electric combo before ordering, since the thermostat and high-limit switch differ across configurations.

Do Suburban RV parts ship with free shipping?

Most small Suburban replacement parts (thermostats, switches, control boards, thermal fuses, anode rods) ship free on orders over $100. Full furnace and water heater units typically ship via standard ground or truck freight depending on size; freight charges are shown at checkout. While you are sourcing parts, it is worth checking our RV winterizing kits if your water heater service is part of a seasonal layup.

Can I replace a Suburban water heater anode rod myself?

Yes. The anode rod threads into the drain port on Suburban steel-tank water heaters (SW series) and should be inspected annually, then replaced when more than 75% of the magnesium or aluminum is consumed. You will need a 1-1/16 inch socket, plumber's tape, and a bucket to catch tank water. Aluminum/zinc rods are recommended in areas with high sulfur content to reduce odor. Atwood and Dometic water heaters use aluminum tanks and do not require an anode rod, so confirm your brand before ordering.
