A reliable furnace is essential for comfortable camping once temperatures drop, whether you are extending your season into fall or traveling through colder climates. When your existing furnace stops igniting, runs inefficiently, or has reached the end of its service life, a direct replacement gets your heat back quickly.

Our selection covers RV furnaces from Suburban and Dometic across a range of BTU outputs to suit different RV sizes and heating needs. We carry both complete replacement units and replacement furnace cores for situations where only the heating core needs to be swapped out rather than the entire assembly.

If you are replacing a Suburban unit, check the Suburban Replacement Core Crossover Chart to confirm the compatible model for your existing furnace before ordering.

Troubleshooting Guide for Common RV Furnace Issues: Stay Warm on Your Travels

Your RV furnace is a vital component, especially during chilly nights or winter travels, ensuring warmth and comfort inside your mobile haven. However, encountering issues with your furnace can quickly turn a cozy journey into a chilly predicament. Fear not! This troubleshooting guide is here to help you diagnose and resolve common RV furnace issues, keeping you snug and comfortable on your travels.

How do I choose the right RV furnace replacement?

Start with the data plate on your existing furnace and note the brand, model number, and BTU rating. A direct replacement should match the BTU output, the cabinet cutout dimensions, the exterior door and exhaust vent position, and whether the unit is ducted or non-ducted. Suburban and Atwood (Dometic Hydro Flame) furnaces use different cutouts and exterior doors, so switching brands usually means modifying the opening and the sidewall. Before ordering from this collection, confirm those four details against the listing specs. For fitment help, text or call 817-984-1852 with your existing model number.

How much does an RV furnace replacement cost?

The unit price depends mainly on BTU output and on whether the furnace is ducted or non-ducted. Lower-BTU non-ducted furnaces sit at the lower end of the range in this collection, and high-BTU ducted models for larger fifth wheels and motorhomes cost more. If a dealer installs the furnace, add labor on top of the unit price. A direct-fit replacement that matches your existing cutout and exhaust location keeps installation simple because no cabinet or sidewall work is needed. Orders over $100 ship free.

Does an RV propane furnace need 12V power to run?

Yes. The furnace burns LP gas for heat, but the blower motor, control board, and direct spark ignition all run on 12V DC. Blower draw is typically 3 to 8 amps depending on furnace size. Low voltage is a common cause of no-heat calls: a slow blower can fail to close the sail switch, so the furnace never lights. If your batteries drop overnight with the furnace cycling, check your converter output. Our 55 amp RV power converters cover most mid-size and larger RVs.

What size RV furnace do I need?

Match the BTU rating on your current furnace's data plate. The manufacturer sized it to your RV's square footage, duct layout, and insulation, and a furnace with a different BTU rating often uses a different cabinet size. Shorter travel trailers commonly use furnaces around 16,000 to 20,000 BTU, while larger fifth wheels and Class A motorhomes often run 30,000 to 40,000 BTU. If you plan to change BTU size, confirm the new cutout dimensions and duct outlet count before ordering.

Should I buy RV furnace parts or replace the whole furnace?

Most no-heat problems trace back to one failed part: the control board, sail switch, limit switch, igniter electrode, or blower motor. Replacing that part costs far less than a new furnace. Replace the whole unit if the heat exchanger is cracked, the combustion chamber is corroded, or replacement parts for your model are no longer available. If both the furnace and your propane water heater fail to ignite, check the LP tank level and regulator first, since both appliances share the gas supply. Our 10 gallon RV water heaters use the same direct spark ignition setup found in most furnaces.
