A drinking water hose and a garden hose are not the same thing. A potable hose uses a lining certified for drinking water, which a standard garden hose does not, and that is the one substitution worth avoiding on an RV.
Length and diameter come next. Twenty five feet reaches most pedestals, fifty covers an awkward site, and a 5/8 inch bore moves more water than 1/2 inch when the shower and the sink are both running. Heated versions keep the supply flowing below freezing, so match the heated length to the distance you actually park from the spigot.
A regulator belongs on the spigot end. Park pressure can run well above what RV plumbing is built for, and a fixed brass unit or an adjustable one with a gauge is cheaper than a burst PEX line.
